Pokemon TCG Release Calendar 2026: The Rest of the Year
Six months of Pokemon TCG releases remain in 2026, and two of them are generational events. Mega Evolution: Pitch Black arrives in July as the fifth set in the Mega Evolution sub-brand, bringing Mega Darkrai ex as the clear headline chase. Then in September, the worldwide 30th Celebration launch resets the competitive table with an all-foil set, a new rarity class, and a guaranteed Pikachu in every pack. This calendar covers every confirmed date from today through December, marks what is projected versus locked, and ends with the grading plan to run on each release.

Already on Shelves This Month
Three products landed June 5 and are on shelves now. The 2025 Pokemon TCG World Championships Decks reproduce the exact builds from the Worlds competitive field. Lumiose City Mini Tins feature five Pokemon across Salamence, Meganium, Emboar, Feraligatr, and Gallade. Mega Moonlit Tins contain Mega Greninja ex and Mega Clefable ex and are the easiest way to pick up both cards without a box pull.
Grading angle: Tin promos often come with light print lines across the face from tray packaging. Check the surface before sleeving. The Mega Greninja ex tin promo is the higher-demand target if centering is clean.
June: First Partner Illustration Collection Series 2
On June 19, First Partner Illustration Collection Series 2 lands with Johto, Unova, and Galar starters. Earlier waves in the Illustration Collection line covered other regional starters, and the format gives each starter a full-art treatment. Series 2 closes out three more regional rosters, which makes it a natural set-completion buy for collectors working through every starter line.
These collections are lower-variance than a booster box pull. You know what cards are inside. The grading question is whether your copy comes out of the packaging with clean corners and surface. Illustration Collection products historically ship in a protective sleeve over the card, but check all four corners before sleeving for long-term storage. Among the Johto trio, Feraligatr usually carries the strongest raw demand, so prioritize a clean copy there.
July: Mega Evolution Pitch Black
Mega Evolution: Pitch Black (ME05) is the July 17 headline. Pre-release events run July 4 through 12, giving you an early look at print quality before box day. The set contains more than 115 cards, with the chase roster led by Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Excadrill ex.
Pitch Black continues the silver foil Mega ex frame established across the sub-brand, which means the same five-axis grading check applies from the first pack. Corner micro-chips on the silver ring, centering measured to the foil boundary rather than the card edge, and surface inspection at multiple angles for the textured Special Illustration Rare tier. The full breakdown is in the Pitch Black chase cards guide.
Grading angle: Pre-release events are the earliest signal on print quality for the run. If the first 100 community scans on ZeroPop show average corner grades below 8.5, the production run is running soft and PSA 10 hit rates will be lower than the Ascended Heroes baseline. Watch those first community reports before committing to box volume.
For the broader Mega Evolution context, see the Mega Evolution Pokemon cards guide.
August: First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3
First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 lands August 7, completing the regional starter cycle with Hoenn, Kalos, and Paldea. If Series 2 is any guide, this will be a clean sweep for collectors who want full-art treatments of Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
Grading angle: The Paldea starters are the most recent generation and carry the freshest demand among the younger collector base. The Paldea final forms should see steady interest if the full-art treatments land as cleanly as the earlier series. Sleeve immediately after opening; these collections get handled more than booster packs and the corners show it.
September: Storm Emerald and the Worldwide 30th Celebration
September holds two releases. One has a confirmed date. One does not.
30th Celebration (September 16, confirmed)
September 16 is the confirmed date for the Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration set, and the framing around it is different from anything The Pokemon Company has done before. This is the first ever simultaneous worldwide TCG launch, meaning every region opens product on the same day. Around 150 cards after secret rares are included, every pack is all-foil, and a new rarity class called "Futuristic Rare" appears for the first time.
Every pack guarantees one of 30 different Pikachu cards, which is a structural guarantee the TCG has never shipped before. A Base Set Charizard reprint is included in the Classic Collection portion, which will carry the highest immediate secondary market demand. The Espeon ex and Umbreon ex 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set releases the same day.
The all-foil treatment changes the grading math compared to a standard set. Every card in every pack has a foil surface, which means every card is subject to the foil scratch and refraction issues that push cards below Gem Mint on PSA. Surface inspection matters more than on a standard print run, and the volume of foil cards means more competition in the PSA submission pipeline after launch.
See the 30th Anniversary set guide for the full product breakdown and grading plan once it publishes.
Storm Emerald (English date not confirmed)
Mega Evolution: Storm Emerald (ME06) is expected in English in mid to late September 2026, but The Pokemon Company has not announced an official English release date. The Japanese set "Storm Emeralda" releases July 31, 2026. Based on the Japan-to-English gap the Mega Evolution sub-brand has maintained across the prior five sets, mid to late September fits the pattern. That is a projection, not a confirmed date.
Storm Emerald is headlined by Mega Rayquaza ex and carries a Hoenn theme with ties to Legends Z-A. If you are planning a grading budget around this set, wait for the official English announcement before committing to pre-orders. This page will update when the date is confirmed.
Grading angle for September: Two major releases in one month is a lot of submission volume. Prioritize the 30th Celebration chase tier first since it is confirmed and the simultaneous worldwide launch means grading services will see a global supply spike. Getting Celebration cards into the PSA queue early in the grading window is the smart play.
Q4 2026: What to Expect
As of June 2026, The Pokemon Company has not announced any Q4 English TCG products. What follows is projection only, not confirmed.
Based on prior years, Q4 typically brings holiday-season tins and collector bundles. A likely additional Mega Evolution English expansion would keep the sub-brand on its two-per-quarter pace if Storm Emerald lands in late September. The usual autumn product cycle around October has historically included Halloween-adjacent themes, though no specific product has been teased.
Do not pre-buy sealed product based on these projections. This calendar will update with Q4 dates as The Pokemon Company makes official announcements.
How to Work This Calendar as a Grader
A release calendar is only useful if you work it systematically. Here is the framework that applies to every set on this list.
Buy at MSRP or skip. The grading math works when your cost basis is MSRP. Any scalped box eliminates the margin. Pre-orders at MSRP are worth placing for Pitch Black and the 30th Celebration now. For Storm Emerald, wait for the official English date before pre-ordering anywhere.
The grading window opens at release. PSA population counts are lowest in the first four to six weeks after a set hits shelves. Cards graded in that window land in a low-pop population report, which supports higher PSA 10 premiums relative to raw. Waiting for month four means grading into a larger population. For the 30th Celebration specifically, the simultaneous worldwide launch will grow the population faster than a US-only release, so the effective window will be shorter.
Scan before you pay the submission fee. Run every pull through ZeroPop to predict the grade across all four sub-grades (corners, edges, surface, centering) before deciding whether to submit. A card predicted below the break-even grade should be sold raw or held for resubmission at a lower PSA tier. The break-even math is in our is my card worth grading guide.
Run the ROI math on each chase card. Not every rare is worth the $25 to $300 submission fee. Check current raw prices, the PSA 10 premium, and the population for that specific card before submitting. The best cards to grade in 2026 guide covers which cards are carrying the strongest PSA 10 premiums right now.
